Paris Haute Couture: Armani Privé spring/summer 2011

Armani Privé spring/summer 2011

Couture week is a fashion fairytale, where almost anything goes and something new is always around the corner. Armani kicked off the show with a clear futuristic inspiration. Can you say U.F.O? So used to the slick suits and gowns he's best known for, i was a little surprised by what i saw.
Check out some of my favourites from the 41 piece collection.

Contemporary designs in glistening metallic fabrics accessorised with UFO like headpieces were presented by Armani this couture season in what looked like something out of a Sci-Fi show. While I can't say I'm  blown away with this collection, there is no denying the tailoring and structure were, as always, every inch up to Armani standards. However, it almost felt repetitive with the over the top use of metallics and personally I didn't admire the colour palette.

Nonetheless, there were some absolute stunners among the 41 piece collection, my personal favourite pieces being the one shoulder blue dress and the short leather blue and red jackets.
I must say it was a different kind of show and kudos to Monsieur Armani on choosing to use Philip Treacy's head-pieces and crystal masks which brilliantly accentuated the theme.
