Turn Up the VOLUME

Thursday: Designer Spotlight
by: Meena, TREND writerHair reached new heights at Richie Rich's spring 2011 runway show during the Mercedes-Benz fashion week in New York. Voluminous hair has been a style that has withstood the course of time and can convey different moods depending on the intensity. It is a style that can be easily mimicked and has proven to be incredibly versatile. Bold make-up was accompanied by large bouffants and colorful hair accessories in Rich's newly unveiled Popluxe collection. Overall, this show truly paid a homage to a hair style that NEVER goes out of style and inspires women to turn up the volume, throw in an eccentric hair accessory, and feel like a runway model.

Nine years ago Ian Watson and his sister-in-law Ranbir Rai-Watson created a scalp procedure called Micro Hair Technique (MHT). The technique uses a non-surgical scalp pigmentation process to replicate the look of short individual hairs on balding areas of the scalp, creating a short, cropped hair style. Clients will be able to arrange appointments at the clinic for face-to-face consultations and the MHT procedure. Along with the new clinic on Harley Street, HIS Hair Clinic also has clinics located in Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow in the UK and Malaga and Marbella in Spain. Rankin shoots first hair collection with Errol Douglas

British photographer Rankin has shot his first hair collection, with top British hairdresser Errol Douglas MBE. The pair collaborated on the set of images after Errol approached Rankin with his concept. He says, “Rankin liked the concept because of the edginess and clean shapes of the cuts. The hair colours were done by my colour master, Jasmin Allen, and it’s out with highlights and in with strong block colour –aubergine, red, blue-black, pure blonde, auburn/thorn. The two-tone colour is an orange bled through the underneath of the ends so it peeks through. The shapes and textures are Couture Grunge, made a little more sculptured. To get the texture of the quiff you take a small amount of hair, scrunch, spray to the head, put a net over it and blow dry – the pressure of the net, spray and heat makes it beautifully matted, a big story coming off the catwalk.” Errol Douglas Hairdressing is at 18 Motcomb Street, London, SW1X 8LB. www.erroldouglas.com
