Debenhams announces first ever Beauty Club Award winners

Spring 2011 sees the launch of the first ever Debenhams Beauty Club Awards, highlighting the most popular products available at the Debenhams Beauty Hall. The expert judging panel have selected their favourite products with the help of the Debenhams Beauty Club cardholders.

The panel of beauty experts included Debenhams Beauty Director Sara Stern, Daily Telegraph beauty writer Kate Shapland, beauty blogger London Beauty Queen and Celebrity Make-up Artist Nathalie Eleni.

The Beauty Awards were divided into over 30 categories (below are just a selection of the key winners):

ecoTOOLS appoints Lauren Parsons as official make-up artist

Lauren Parsons has been appointed as the official make-up artist of environmentally minded beauty accessories brand ecoTOOLS.

After training at Glauca Rossi School of Make-up, Lauren assisted make-up artist Hannah Murray for three years where she worked with photographers Patrick Demarchlier and Mario Testino before going it alone. She currently works with photographers such as Alasdair McClellan and Boo George as well as models including Alice Dellal, Lily Donaldson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jaime Winstone. Lauren was named as one to watch in 2011 by VOGUE and has recently worked on campaigns for Liberty of London, McQ and Anya Hindmarch.

National Make-Up Awards for Make-Up Artists announces winners

The first National Make-Up Awards for Make-Up Artists took place yesterday at the Professional Beauty Show in ExCel London. The ceremony gives recognition to the UK’s leading Make-Up Artists in all areas of the industry, including Beauty, Film, TV, Editorial, Advertising, Studio, Retail and Salon. The judging panel was made up of experts including Jackie Tyson, Daniel Sandler, Carol Churchill, Linda Key, Sandra Exelby and Christine Vidler.

The overall winner was Professional Make-Up Artist - Lan Nguyen. Lan has worked on editorials and shows for London Fashion Week with clients such as L’Oreal, Toni&Guy, Wella, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Grazia, ELLE, Telegraph, Express newspapers and with various celebrities including Sabrina Washington, Kimberley Wyatt and Michelle Williams. National Make-Up Awards announces shortlist

The National Make-Up Awards has announced the shortlisted make-up artists for the professional category. The Awards, which take place on 28 February (see DIARYdates), is being judged by a panel of experts that includes Jackie Tyson, Daniel Sandler, Carol Churchill, Linda Key, Hayley Tamaddon, Sandra Exelby and Christine Vidler. The inaugural National Make-Up Awards will give recognition to the UK’s leading Make-Up Artists in all areas of the industry, including Beauty, Film, TV, Editorial, Advertising, Studio, Retail and Salon. National Make-Up Awards for Make-Up Artists and National Beauty Blogging Event launches next year

On 28 February 2011, the UK’s first National Make-Up Awards for Make-Up Artists will take place live at the Professional Beauty Show at ExCel London. The inaugural National Make-Up Awards will give recognition to the UK’s leading Make-Up Artists in the UK beauty industry. Candidates can select from four different categories, including Professional Make-Up Artists, Retail On Counter Make-Up Artists, Salon Make-Up Artists and Talented Student Make-Up Artists. In addition, Professional Make-Up Artists can select from four sub-categories to enter, including Best Make-Up for Editorial, Best Make-Up for Advertising, Best Make-Up for On Screen and Best Make-Up for a Studio Shoot. Make-up artist Cassie Lomas and TV presenter Jenny Frost launch Make-Up Academy

Celebrity make up artist Cassie Lomas and best friend TV Presenter Jenny Frost today announced the launch of their first self funded venture, the Cassie Lomas Make Up Academy. Situated in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, the Cassie Lomas Make Up Academy will offer professional courses - from media make up to fashion and photographic make up artistry - along with more accessible short courses for ladies (and men) who are looking to acquire skills to better apply their own make up. The focus of the Academy is to equip budding make up artists with the skills required to be successful in a range of fields in today’s industry. Looking to emulate her personal success, Cassie, with experience spanning 14 years, has worked with a wide client list most recently including Lady Gaga and Coleen Rooney and is keen to nurture new talent within the field. The classes, ranging from nine week courses to one day workshops, will be delivered by a team of established industry experts, including Cassie Lomas herself. The personal approach to teaching will be hands on, dynamic and fresh and the added tool of the academy's own photographic studio will allow further growth towards students building a much needed professional portfolio. Harrods celebrate Red Lipstick Day on 27 May

As the grand finale to Harrods Beauty Month in May, the department store is teaming up with the cancer support charity Look Good…Feel Better to offer a day of activity on 27 May centred around the ‘iconic’ red lipstick. New make-up brand launches

The Bourjois Company introduce new make-up brand UNE to the market. The premise behind the brand is natural beauty with UNE aiming for 100% natural formulas where possible, using organic ingredients to create healthy, more environmentally-friendly products. Certified by ECOCERT, no synthetic colourings, parabens, synthetic fragrances, petrochemical oils or GMO's were used in the creation of the range.
