COLLABORATION: VERSACE FOR H&M - A/W 2011

Did Donatella Versace have a change of heart?? Cause I'm pretty sure I remember getting all excited thinking she'll do a collaboration and let all us "normal" people get our hands on an iconic design and then being bummed out when she announced in May she wouldn't ever do it.. something about her brand being a luxury label.. yada yada yada.. well she's DOING IT!
Uber fashion retailer H&M announced today that the next designer collaboration will be with Versace.. and get this; not just one but 2 collections! Yup an Autumn/Winter and a Pre-Spring collection for women, men and even home.

Watch this!

The collections are said to be heavily inspired  by the Italian brand's heritage and include the signature prints, colours, leather and other exclusive materials at happy affordable H&M (slightly over-priced for collaboration) prices *cue to jump for joy*

Donatella Versace with H&M creative advisor, Margareta Van Den Bosch

“I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere,” said Donatella Versace

“Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times, and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant – everything Versace stands for. Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the party season,” said Margareta van den Bosch

According to H&M; the women's collection will feature dresses tailored for the season, jam packed with  studded leather, colourful prints and with accessories including high heels and costume jewellery. The men's collection is going to be all about the tailoring so our boys can look out for a tuxedo as well as belts and accessories. Finally, for our humble abodes, the collection will offer a selection of homeware pieces like cushion and bedspreads.

The first collection (A/W 2011) by Versace for H&M  will hit stores November 17th and the pre-spring collection will be available online on January 19th.

I 'm intrigued to see what she'll come up with, but I'm already excited after seeing the dress below which Donatella wore to the Versace Men's show this week and is a piece we can all get our hands on soon.
