Vauxhall Fashion Scout announces Merit Award winner for AW11

Georgia Hardinge has been announced as the winner of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Merit Award AW11. Georgia Hardinge is to receive a fully sponsored catwalk show and exhibition space at Vauxhall Fashion Scout during London and Paris Fashion Weeks. The award, running across three-seasons, also offers the winner access to a specialised mentoring programme throughout the year to help them grow and develop a successful, sustainable business.

The Merit Award is chosen by a panel of leading industry figures who have extensive experience in working with and promoting new talent including Vogue.com, ASOS and Tank Magazine.

Speaking of her win Gerogina said “I am honoured to have been chosen to represent the Merit Award this season. Vauxhall Fashion Scout have been wonderful advocates of my brand since day one. I can’t tell you how encouraging it is to have the support of such a rare creative platform. Showing as part of ‘One’s To Watch’ last season was a fantastic experience and to be now given the opportunity to do my first stand-alone show during London Fashion Week is a privilege in itself. I’m very excited!”

Born in London and raised across Europe, Georgia Hardinge’s international background is interpreted throughout her work and her signature architectural style holds firm in her creation of art pieces as fashion. Winning the prestigious “Golden Thimble” on her graduation at Parson Paris, SS11 saw Georgia’s first catwalk show at London Fashion Week as part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s ‘Ones to Watch’ initiative. Since then Georgia has continued to shine, most notably through her label’s celebrated collaboration with Victoria’s Secret, Swarovski sponsorship and support through Vogue.

This season Vauxhall Fashion Scout takes place from 18th - 23nd February in Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s permanent location - Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout announces dates for February

Fashion showcase for emerging talent, Vauxhall Fashion Scout, has confirmed its dates for 18-23 February 2011. Taking place at the Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden, VFS will expand to include a second show space allowing designers the flexibility to produce a salon show, presentation or installation. VFS actively promotes both new and seasoned designers to a global audience of media, buyers, celebrities and style leaders. In February, VFS will host Catwalk Womenswear Shows, a Menswear Day and its London Exhibition. Invited guests will also have access to a Media & VIP Lounge providing a place to work, with use of free computers and high speed internet. Vauxhall Fashion Scout and The Hospital Club to collaborate

Vauxhall Fashion Scout is partnering with The Hospital Club for a series of activities including Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s new programme of Mentoring Events.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Mentoring programme supports both emerging and seasoned designers and helps them build sustainable successful businesses, providing a resource of information from industry experts and guest speakers. Previous speakers include the British Fashion Council, Vogue.com, Centre for Fashion Enterprise, Browns Focus and Relative MO.

The Hospital Club is a private members' club and creative arts venue in Covent Garden, which houses a music studio, TV studio and art gallery. Its is also responsible for the Creatives in Residence programme, designed to support emerging creatives over the course of twelve months, actively contributing to their career progression and personal development. The VFS Mentoring Events are free to fashion designers over the next few months and in preparation for next season and will cover topics such as Manufacturing, Pricing and Developing Collections, Sponsorship & Finance Management and PR and Sales.

The first event is taking place at The Hospital Club tomorrow (9 November) on the topic of Production and Manufacturing.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout announces a series of one-day exhibitions during LFW

Vauxhall Fashion Scout announces a series of one-day exhibitions showcasing five of the hottest new fashion and accessories designers. The designers, selected for their innovative concepts and creative approach to design, will each have a one day exhibition at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue during London Fashion Week this September.

The exhibition schedule is as follows:

Friday 17th : Una Burke
Saturday 18th : Yorkshire Pearl
Sunday 19th : Gabriella Gonzales
Monday 20th : Bolshie
Tuesday 21st : Sara Bro-Jorgensen

Una Burke will be showcasing the latest of her utilitarian yet feminine manipulated leather accessories.

Jewellery label Yorkshire Pearl will exhibit one of a kind pieces bound with thread, clusters of beads, buttons and pearls.

Gabriella Gonzales presents an array of futuristic and highly conceptual accessory designs.

Bolshie, who grabbed our attention at just 17 years old, will show her latest collection of attitude injected show-stoppers.

Wrapping up the week is Sara Bro-Jorgensen who, building on her her MA collection, promises a collection of sleek and intricate knitwear creations.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout announces this season´s Ones To Watch

Vauxhall Fashion Scout has announced the Spring/Summer 2011 line-up for London Fashion Week’s showcase of new fashion talent – Ones To Watch. A.Hallucination, Charlotte Taylor, Georgia Hardinge and Lilee (clockwise from above) will all feature in a back-to-back show this September. Design duo, A.Hallucination, consists of two South Korean Menswear designers, Hwan Sung Park and Chung Chung Lee. Between them, the two Central Saint Martins graduates have worked for a number of fashion houses including Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford and Ozwald Boateng. Charlotte Taylor’s approach to design is quirky, and colourful. Charlotte previously worked for the notable British fashion label, Luella. Last season saw the critically acclaimed launch of the Charlotte Taylor label at Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Designer Exhibition during London Fashion Week. After graduating from Parson’s Paris School of Art and Design and winning the ‘Golden Thimble’ for Best Designer at her Graduate show, Georgia Hardinge returned to London and in 2009 to set up her own fashion label. Inspired by architectural shapes and sculpture, Hardinge experiments with cut to create structured garments, many of which have already become popular among celebrities including Little Boots, The Saturdays and Erin O’Connor. Lilee is also an award-winning graduate from the London College of Fashion’s MA course. The young designer was awarded the highly commendable prize at her MA graduate show at the V&A this January. Lilee has already completed a diffusion collection for the online fashion retailer ASOS, which will be on sale from this autumn. Over the past three seasons Ones To Watch has launched a generation of emerging young designers. Alumni include Hermione de Paula, Alice Palmer, Ada Zanditon, Dean Quinn and this season’s Merit Award winner Eudon Choi. Ones to Watch is chosen by panel of industry experts experienced in working with and promoting new talent including vogue.com, Browns Focus, ASOS and Tank.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout, London’s largest showcase of innovative fashion designers, has announced Eudon Choi as the Merit Award Winner for Spring/Summer 2011. The widely acclaimed Merit Award is chosen by a panel of industry experts and gives the winner a fully sponsored catwalk show and exhibition space at Vauxhall Fashion Scout during London and Paris Fashion Weeks. Eudon first hit the headlines last season at Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s group show, Ones To Watch. Dover Street Market snapped up his graduate MA collection, and he now counts Lusia Via Roma Italy, Harvey Nichols Hong Kong, Harvey Nichols Dubai, Debut New York and Young British Designers as key stockists. Eudon Choi previously worked as senior designer at Twenty8Twelve before launching his own label in 2009. His win follows in the footsteps of past Merit Award winners Hermione de Paula, William Tempest and David Koma; who is now the proud recipient of this year’s New Gen catwalk show award. The winner of the highly coveted, three-season Merit Award is given the opportunity to showcase their collection at a high profile fully sponsored show during London Fashion Week.
