PANDORA Jewellery introduces digital magazine

Jewellery brand PANDORA has launched a new interactive magazine. PANDORA Magazine is published globally every other month for members of Pandora’s customer club, offering interaction with readers. The magazine is built on a broad editorial line with inspiring fashion editorials, styling tips and lifestyle articles as in the traditional fashion magazines. Its interactive functions allow readers to post comments, rate articles and share their favourites with others. A unique feature of the magazine is that readers can share their own experiences with women around the world by commenting directly in the magazine. The magazine is published six times a year in four languages and is free to members of PANDORA’s customer club. The first issue appeared on 20 June online and featured Penelope Cruz on the cover.

Molly Brown creates first jewellery collection for Angelina Ballerina

Girls jewellery brand Molly Brown is launching the first jewellery collection from children's character Angelina Ballerina. Available from 2 July exclusively at Selfridges (London, Birmingham & Manchester), the collection will then roll out to other UK retailers, including Harrods two weeks. The range includes pendants, lockets and charm bracelets using sterling silver and enamel coated Angelina pink. Prices start at £40.00 for the sterling silver jewellery and £15.00 for the silver-plated line. The new Angelina Ballerina collection will also be available to buy on the Molly Brown website.

Dezeen Watch Store to open pop-up in Covent Garden

Design-led online watch boutique store the Dezeen Watch Store is opening a pop-up at 55 Neal Street, WC2, from 29 June – 10 July. The collection on display has been curated by the Dezeen team and include designs from £59.00 up to £540.00.

The pop-up shop will stock watches by designers including Michael Young, Naoto Fukasawa, Karim Rashid, SANAA and Industrial Facility. The store will also exclusively stock the Luna-Tik (pictured) by Scott Wilson, which converts an iPod Nano into a watch while allowing music to be played. There will also be an installation by Plumen, winner of the Brit Insurance Design of the Year 2011, of its designer energy saving light bulbs, which will be on sale. The Dezeen Watch Store will be open 10am – 8pm from Monday to Saturday and 12pm – 6pm on Sunday.

Treasure jewellery exhibition to showcase new design as part of London Jewellery Week

As the flagship event of London Jewellery Week, Treasure is a contemporary exhibition that will showcase the latest collections of more than 120 jewellers and designer-makers. Some of the key designers on offer this year include:
  • Alexander Davis – winner of New Designer of the Year 2010 at the UK Jewellery Awards
  • Joanna Dahdah – winner of the Treasure Designer of the Year Award 2010 will launch a new collection
  • Madhuri Parson – draws on her Indian Heritage to create pieces combining Eastern and Western influences
  • Zelia Horsley – architecturally influences jewellery both men and women
In a new initiative, Treasure has teamed up with The Jewellery Show annual trade event to create, The Jewellery Show Salon – a trade day at Treasure. This will give the opportunity for high street and high-end buyers to discover what is happening in London’s jewellery design scene. WGSN, the fashion and commercial trend forecaster, will also be at the event, hosting seminars throughout the day. Treasure takes place from 9-12 June at Victoria House in Bloomsbury, Central London.

Somerset House to exhibit jewellery designers next month

A series of jewellery exhibitions at Somerset House (Embankment Entrance) will take place from 10-12 June, with the first exhibiting the works of Alice Cicolini and Fernando Jorge.

Alice Cicolini (design pictured above) has previously exhibited her work in India, New York and Sotheby’s. Now back in London, Alice is concentrating on her new collections, which combine carved ebony, precious stones and Jaipuri enamel, as well as opening a new boutique. Prices range from £500.00 to £5,000.00 and selected pieces are available from www.talismangallery.co.uk in Harvey Nichols and www.alicecicolini.com.

Fernando Jorge takes inspiration from the concepts of body, gender and sexuality found in contemporary Brazilian culture. Fernando’s jewellery is available from CoutureLab.com and in their Mayfair boutique.

Fabergé exhibiting at The Dorchester from this week

Fabergé, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, is exhibiting a collection of pieces in The Dorchester hotel in Park Lane, London W1, from this week.

In addition to the flagship Fabergé boutique in Geneva, a glass cabinet in the lobby of The Dorchester hotel will showcase a selection of Fabergé’s High Jewellery and Haute Horlogerie collections: Les Fabuleuses de Fabergé, with its three themed collections, Les Fleurs, Les Fables and Les Fauves; Carnet de Bal, Faberge’s all-white, all-diamond jewels; and the newly-launched, Fabergé watch collections.

Links of London introduces debut sports watch

Links of London is launching its first ever sports watch, Chicane. The new edition takes inspiration from vintage motor racing and the interior of sports cars. Large overlapping subsidiary dials echo the style of modern dashboards and watches feature a chronograph function. Customers can choose from a stainless steel bracelet or black leather straps that incorporate classic racing green and vibrant red detailing. The four styles on offer are priced between £395.00 and £450.00 and will be available from Links of London stores at the end of next week (13 May).

Kirsten Goss exclusive design to go under the hammer at Christie's

This June will see a Kirsten Goss design go under the hammer at Christie’s for the first time. The exclusive piece has been created in 18kt yellow gold and set with an ombre of diamonds. The ring entitled ‘refuge’ will be auctioned on behalf of wildlands conservation trust, raising awareness and funding for rhino conservation. This auction (taking place on 12 June) also marks the launch of the Kirsten Goss ‘precious’ range; a new solid gold collection, combining precious materials and unusual cuts of stones, available in-store from September with prices starting from £350.00.

Guess watches has partnered with charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in a new fashion collaboration to support the fight against Breast Cancer. This year, Guess has created the limited edition Sparkling Pink watch. The polished silver-tone case pops with a translucent top ring and twelve pink accent crystals. New online luxury destination launched by former Creative Director for Links of London

Elizabeth Galton, previous creative director of Links of London, is launching Elizabeth Galton Studio on 5 May, a new online luxury destination for contemporary jewellery and accessories. The new website (www.elizabethgaltonstudio.com) will feature 35 creative designers for men and women from around the world that have been handpicked by Elizabeth, with a focus on emerging talent. Elizabeth Galton Studio will offer a wide selection of designs as well as Gift, Bridal and Bespoke pieces. These include silver pieces, ranging from £100.00 to £900.00, fine jewellery from £900.00 to £35,000.00, luxury fashion jewellery brands from £50.00 to £400.00 and soft accessories from £40.00 to £150.00.

Topshop collaborates with jewellery designer Pamela Love

Topshop has announced the debut collaboration with New York-based jewellery designer Pamela Love, launching in May. Inspired by images of 1970s’ ‘Gypsy Rockers’, Pamela Love for Topshop sees delicate designs in strong metals, intricate carvings and easily-worn styles. The range includes the Dreamcatcher, Hearts & Arrows (pictured here), Frozen Links and Chain & Stud collections. The Dreamcatcher designs take inspiration from Love’s interest in magic and folk jewellery. The traditional medicine wheel charm, in the form of a matching necklace, earring and bracelet, has been re-imagined in chunky silver, decorated with resin and feathers.

The Hearts and Arrows designs include antique-finish silver designs including a heavy baroque-looking pendant, earring, cuff and ring. Frozen Links, with a single cuff, multi-cuff, link chain and earring, is made of interlocking silver chains, and incorporates black and turquoise stones. The Chain & Stud includes a necklace, bracelet and ring with Aztec influence.

Pamela Love founded her label in 2007 after having started her own company from the basement of her flat. She has since collaborated with various designers on runway collections, debuted her own collection in New York Fashion week SS10 and has been nominated for the 2010 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund. The new collection will be available in-store from 19 May.

Sekonda partners with Britain & Ireland´s Next Top Model

Watchmaker Sekonda has announced a collaboration with the new series of Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model which will air on Sky Living this Summer. Sekonda will task the contestants with their first professional photo shoot for the brand’s new PARTYTIME range of watches. The shoot was overseen by Judges Julien Macdonald, Grace Woodward and Seksy by Sekonda model Tess Montgomery, with selected shots featuring exclusively in H.Samuel stores nationwide, where the watches will be available from this May, with prices starting at £29.99.

Giles Deacon helps to select the winner of Central Saint Martins Palladium Jewellery Competition

Fashion designer Giles Deacon and Jewellery designer Hannah Martin (pictured) led a judging panel to identify the winner of the Central Saint Martins Palladium Jewellery Design Competition. This is a collaborative design competition between Palladium Alliance International and Masters Design students specialising in Jewellery, Ceramics and Furniture culminating in a ceremony at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Bespoke jewellery pieces by finalists were unveiled in front of guests that included Matt Horne, PPQ, Jade Parfitt, Gizzi Erskine, Luke Worrall and Olivia Inge before announcing student Leigh Cameron as the overall winner.

The winning ring was made from the precious metal palladium was inspired by large architectural shapes. Winning student Leigh Cameron said of winning the competition; “It has been an amazing experience, I never thought that I would win and as I am studying Furniture designing jewellery is a whole new experience for me. Working with palladium has been fantastic and I look forward to working with it again in the future.”

Tateossian opens its first pop-up shop in Westfield London

From 28 March to the 3 April, Westfield shopping centre will host Tateossian’s first pop-up shop selling pieces from the most recent collections. To celebrate the launch, customers will be treated to offers including a 25% discount and a gift for the first 50 customers.

The collaboration is a silver three piece collection including; bracelets with skulls and gem detailing, double skull rings and double skull necklaces. F&F at Tesco announces the launch of new ethical jewellery range

F&F at Tesco will be the exclusive stockist for the first season of the ‘This is Africa’ ethical jewellery range - the diffusion line of jewellery brand Made. The TIA range consists of 16 pieces produced in an African co-operative. The range is made from largely recycled materials; brass is reclaimed and ‘upcycled’ through a traditional casting process, with glass components recycled from drinking bottles. Prices will range from £4.00 to £25.00 and the collection will be available to buy exclusively online at tesco.com/clothing at the end of March.

Zandra Rhodes to introduce new jewellery range later this year

August will see British Fashion Designer Zandra Rhodes launch her range of vintage inspired jewellery in collaboration with UK based costume jewellery brand Adele Marie. The collection draws inspiration upon Zandra’s creations and bear the hallmarks of the celebrity who is renowned for creative statements and extroverted prints.

The Zandra Rhodes Jewellery Collection will infuse style with current fashion trends, to create a modern day collection with statements from her earlier years. The collection incorporates the designer’s original textile work and consists of retro necklaces, brooches and earrings.

H.Stern launches new collection in collaboration with Oscar Niemeyer

H.Stern is launching a new jewellery collection in collaboration with famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Considered one of the most influential names in modern architecture, Niemeyer is responsible for the project of Brasilia, the country’s capital constructed in the late 1950’s. The new H.Stern by Oscar Niemeyer Collection is the initiative of Roberto Stern, President and Creative Director of H.Stern, and includes jewellery in gold and diamonds, composed of six different lines named after his works and famous projects. The designers sought inspiration in the outlines and contours of Niemeyers architectural works like those in Brasília, Pampulha - an architectural project in Minas Gerais state, the Copan building in São Paulo and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Niterói.
