Metro partners with High Street Fashion Week

Metro has partnered with High Street Fashion Week which is happening from 5-9 September. Metro plan to produce five 24-page bespoke fashion newspapers throughout the week with dedicated high street fashion content edited by Metro’s style editor Bel Jacobs.

This is the third year for High Street Fashion Week which will see fashion shows, exhibitions, late-night shopping evenings and launch parties with high street brands unveiling their AW11 collections. 100,000 copies of the paper are planned for distribution each day around Oxford Street in London. The special issues will contain fashion news and features, event listings, special offers, competitions and tips on what to wear this season. High Street Fashion Week will launch with a Metro cover wrap on 5 September. Metro.co.uk will also host a High Street Fashion Week hub to support the activity and the site’s style blog ‘Closet Case’ will offer readers an insight into the week’s events and advice on high street shopping.

The Independent's i set to introduce Saturday edition this May

The Independent's sister publication i is due to launch ‘i Saturday’ on 7 May. The new edition is set to retail at 30p and will provide a weekend briefing across the UK and Ireland, in a concise and non-bulky format. The UK wide launch followed a TV advertising campaign featuring Independent columnist Dom Joly and Jemima Khan. Launched in October 2010, i is specifically targeted at readers and lapsed readers of quality newspapers, and those who want a comprehensive digest of the news in printed form. i has a circulation of 172,250, and a combined circulation of 355,000 copies a day with its sister paper, The Independent.

Simon Kelner, editor-in-chief of i and The Independent, said of the new launch: “With the growing success of the weekday edition of i, it is natural that we would want to add a Saturday edition. The demand from readers has been such that this is a no-brainer, and we are looking forward to producing a quality one-section companion to the weekend.”
