Cadeaux Vogue Paris Dec/Jan
Everyone seems to be talking about the latest editorial to come out of Vogue Paris, a magazine infamously known for its controversial spreads. I initially decided not to blog this, until I realised this went beyond the fashion industry and involved a much larger audience.
People who haven't picked up a vogue in years, or ever for that matter, have voiced their opinion about this shoot already, so I asked around and the response I got was of pure disgust, with pedophilia being the first word on everyone's lips.
I'm all for controversial editorials, i mean who wants to see the same old pretty girls jumping around a studio? Take for example, "Get thee to a nunnery, where Ashley Smith posed nude as a nun, or "The wedding night" where Abbey Lee Kershaw and Edita Vilkeviciute acted out a lesbian wedding packed full with nudity, or "Water & Oil" where Kristen McMenamy was drenched in oil in a series of disturbing images after the BP oil spill, all of these caused talk but were swallowed up quickly, because in the fashion world we've accepted that nudity and cotroversy come hand in hand with couture.
But I must say that Carine may have gone a tad too far this time, and just before she bids us all au revoir, with these little girls all dressed up in dresses, furs and stilettos, donning vampy lipstick and insane doe eyes. And she asks: "What makeup at what age?", hmmm.. are we to expect younger models on the catwalk next?
I just can't get myself to accept this as a fashion editorial.
What do you think??
