Renowned accessory designer and jeweller Mawi has teamed up with rising star and New Gen designer David Koma to create an exclusive collaboration for SS11. Debuted at his on schedule show during London Fashion Week, the collection features two specially designed pieces inspired by cubist artist Fernand Leger including an oversized corrugated statement cuff and chunky knuckle-duster ring. As both designers draw inspiration from architecture while exploring heavy metal embellishment, the marriage of the two enhances and compliments to create unique limited edition pieces. Hinting towards the Mawi signature industrial shape, the product has been developed from an initial brief using mood boards from David’s SS11 inspiration and interpreted into sculptured and conceptual designs. Mawi for David Koma launches in February 2011. Prices range from £600.00 and £5,000.00 for the bespoke couture piece.
