What I Did Today

Today was a day much like any other Sunday. I wore many hats as I went through the day: mother, wife, Sunday school teacher, sports fan, cook, laundress; and today I was able to add artist to that list. I carved out a couple of hours to spend in my studio working on one of four backgrounds I began yesterday.

I don't often share my works-in-progress, but thought I would take an interim photo of this current WIP. This piece is one I am specifically creating for my own home. It has a long way to go to get to what I see in my mind's eye, and needs a bit of changing now that I see it in a photo! With any luck it will eventually be close to what I envision.

I have a busy week ahead, so it's anybody's guess when I will next have time in my studio. But stay tuned...because when it's finished I'll be sure to post a photo.

More About the SMQ Guild Show

A slide show of all the quilts in the show is now posted on the guild's website.  Click here to see it.

I took photos from the slide show to fill in the gaps of the missing pictures for the special award winning quilts in my previous post.  So you may wish to reread that post.

The quilt that gets the viewer's choice award is determined at the end of the show when the votes are counted. "Morning Glory Madness" by Joann Webb, Grain Valley, Missouri is the winner.
Joann wrote this about her quilt in the show booklet, "The three dimensional floral Garden City Gateworks blocks led me to create my vision of an iron trellis with climbing morning glories in the setting.  It is appliqued and quilted by hand".

"TE AMO"

CHECK OUT NEW ORIGINAL PAINTINGS AT PRISARTS GALLERY AND OBJECTS OF ART GALLERY

:packaging:

i packaged and sent off my first order of {saved}RED this week.  oh how fun they were to make and paint! reusing a staples box, i sketched over it to add a personal touch and some charm. also, i left a hand written note from one of the grocery bags i used.  i am also starting to include a few of my photography images too - thanks to kziegler design

on a side note, a few fun things have been happening on etsy for this little shop.  this week i was featured on the front page with the {saved}RED item and i was also featured as a treasury curator. the hour or so of front page attention led lots of sellers and buyers over to my shop. i am up to 58 shop hearts and almost have 800 views on one item.  little victories this week for 5 Letter Design!

have a wonderful weekend!
